IATA is positive that e-freight will continue to be expanded both in adoption and volume across the Chinese market. Steve Smith, Director, Cargo Supply Chain Management for IATA noted that: “The consistent level of work across the whole supply chain is impressive”. In particular he praised China Southern Airline’s adoption of Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) to access cargo information, a move that will significantly reduce the use of paper cargo.

Following the successful launch of e-freight in China on the 24th of May, Steve Smith paid a visit to Chinese stakeholders to formally recognize their implementation of e-freight both at international and domestic levels.

The visit included discussions about the Chinese market’s implementation of e-freight and how best to expand it to other airports with the following airlines: Air China, China Cargo Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines and Jade Cargo Airlines.
