Finnair: No Need to Change Speed Sensors

Finnair says it has already changed the speed sensors on its Airbus A330 and A340 planes. Leading aircraft manufacturer Airbus recently called for airlines to switch most speed sensors to U.S.-made parts on its jetliners in the wake of the jet disaster in June.

Finnair spokesman Taneli Hassinen says the company switched out the sensors some time ago for sensors by another manufacturer. Finnair has five A340 planes and four A330 planes.

“We haven’t experienced any problems with our sensors,” says Hassinen.

Faulty speed sensors have been blamed for the Air France A330 passenger jet crash in June that claimed 228 on board the flight from Brazil to Paris.
