Finland’s national carrier, Finnair, says it will not allow passengers with the H1N1 swine flu virus to travel on its flights.
The airline reviewed its policy after the National Institute for Health and Welfare classified the virus as a common dangerous disease.
Finnair staff will keep a look out for virus sufferers at check-in desks and when entering the plane. However, a final decision on passenger health will be made by a physician. The airline admits it will be difficult to implement the new policy which it describes a precautionary measure.
Finnair’s policy change follows similar regulations introduced by British Airways and Virgin Air.
