PARIS, June 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — PARIS AIR SHOW — Etihad Airways has selected International Aero Engines (IAE) V2500 engines to power a new fleet of 20 Airbus A320-family aircraft.  The contract is valued at more than $192 million to Pratt & Whitney, including a long-term IAE aftermarket agreement.

Etihad Airways was the launch customer for the new V2500 SelectOne(TM) in the Gulf region in March 2009.  Nine of Etihad’s 10 A320-family aircraft are already powered by the V2500.

The selected engines are the latest V2500 SelectOne(TM) build standard, which increases fuel burn advantage by an additional 1 percent and further reduces CO2 emissions. The V2500 SelectOne(TM) build standard improves time on-wing by up to 20 percent and is compliant with the most stringent CAEP/6 NOx standards.  It entered service in October 2008.

The V2500 is available in seven different thrust settings, from 22,000 to 33,000 lbs., to power the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 family of aircraft as well as the A319 Corporate Jet.

IAE is a multinational aero engine consortium whose shareholders comprise of Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines.  There are more than 5,500 V2500s in service or on firm order with more than 180 customers around the world.
