FINNAIR SUBSIDIARY NORTHPORT OY COMPLETES YT NEGOTIATIONS
Finnair’s subsidiary Northport Oy, which provides ground handling services, has
completed the statutory employer-employee negotiations (YT negotiations) that
began on 2 March 2009. The objective of the negotiations was to achieve savings
of at least 3.5 million euros in personnel costs.
“Air traffic at Helsinki-Vantaa is concentrated in peak periods, outside of
which the number of flights has clearly reduced. Northport Oy’s operations will
be directed in future more at these peak traffic periods, outside of which the
need for labour is much lower,” says Northport’s Managing Director Jukka
Hämäläinen.
The labour reduction requirement was estimated in March at 90 man years. The
reduction will be implemented through the redundancy of 15 employees, by making
138 positions part-time, and by laying off 87 employees for two weeks.
Northport Oy has a total of 858 employees.
