Back in virtual cockpit again.

It’s been a while, hmm, a long time since I was able to launch my good old FS9 and get some virtual air under my wings. I can’t believe how did I manage to be away from that hobby a few months.

I was doing my flight offline with PMDG 747F from Berlin to Munich and it was awesome again. I also launched Active Sky from Hifi Simulation with real time weather. Flight started with a lot of problems. I had no flight plan at all, no clue where to find one. I have a software to do it for me but heh, no clue how to use it… So, Firefox up and searching something and there we go. I found one that’s usable, I guess. I got the plane loaded with cargo and fuel so no problem eh. Until I hit the FS icon in desktop.. Nothing happened ha! But my dear friend Active Sky have a feature to load FS automatically, so there we go. I first loaded default Cessna as I was letting myself told. Then the actual plane. Yippee.. All ok so far. I started to load flight plan to FMC and actually managed to do it somehow. But needed to do some cuts in the route. My AIRAC is sooo old that it didn’t match very well. But plan is a plan they say and so it is ok then, right?

Got the engines running, push-back, started the taxi and turned the nose to the left. Well I tried to turn that big nose.. No profile in Saitek… So what? Hmm, after loaded that and nothing happened I realised that it was not plugged in. And after that and a restart (Windows) I did it all again and after one hour I was ready to take off under heavy thunderstorms in Tegel. It was real fun.

So why am I writing this here?

Because it is so great hobby that it really needs more attention than it gets nowadays except in hard core simming communities. I don’t even know why some call it as a game, it is pure fun and a bit boring in the same time. But if you dive deeper in that world, there’s lots of fun to do while cruising at FL390 few hours.
