The Finnish Airline Pilots’ Association has cancelled a ban on overtime work that it was using as leverage in negotiations with employers.

The union’s chair Timo Willberg says that they want to continue talks in a positive and voluntary spirit, and hopes that employers’ representatives will respond in kind.

An all-out pilots’ strike which was supposed to happen this week had been cancelled earlier in order to ease tensions.

On Wednesday the union requested an investigation into the national labour conciliator Juhani Salonius’ impartiality. He recused himself from the negotiations when the union objected to the fact that he had been upgraded to first class on a recent flight.
