Starting 29th March 2009, Brussels Airlines will offer 4 weekly connections between the capital of Europe and Vilnius. This year, the Lithuanian capital has been named the European Capital of Culture. Up until now, the lack of direct connection between the two cities meant that passengers had to include a transfer at a third airport.

Lithuania is one of the more dynamic of the Baltic countries, with an economic growth rate that has exceeded that of most European countries over the past several years. With the launch of this new route, Brussels Airlines is responding to a growing demand for a direct line between Belgium and Lithuania, which will now take only 3 hours instead of the 6 hours previously necessary to travel between the two capitals.

This new route offer from Brussels Airlines will also delight business travellers, expats and EU institution travellers. Flights are operated on board Brussels Airlines’ comfortable XXX, with the choice of two economy classes on board – b.flex economy+ and b.light economy. Here, b.flex economy+ offers passengers a host of extra advantages : the ability to change their ticket, free extra baggage, fast-lane access at the security checkpoint at Brussels Airport, and finally an excellent food and drink service on board.
