Is virtual airlines going out of hands…

I decided to make a post about virtual airlines and how I feel about those. I have nothing bad against any virtual airline but it seems that there is no virtual airline that accepts members like me to join their fleet. I mean, too often I have seen a very nice group to join but their policies are too tight. You often have to fly more than once a month online to be accepted, or at least once a month. You can’t fly, at the beginning, nothing more than some short routes with a small aircraft, heavies are no no to new members. If you want to fly big birds, you need to take training or you will need lots of online hours, often from 100 to 200 hours. I feel it is a waste of many and I know many simmers who wants to join but don’t have enough time to keep up their active status in VA. Though benefits if you join one of those airlines are great. First comes timetables and route planning, repaints, forums. Those three things makes me miss the good ol’ British Airways Virtual where I belonged few years ago when I had less kids and more time for my hobby :) . And many other great communities out there as well. I found one that looks promising, Jet2 Virtual, but they don’t want more virtual pilots… If there’s a place where to hang out, fly when you want, where you want, let us know. Place for your advertisement is now open sir ;)

This is right here, in the present, not the future.

Hi there,

We have several virtual airlines that you could join that have great communities and are not strict on pilot rules. Visit our web site at http://www.simmiles.com and take a look for yourself.

I didn’t knew your website before. It is nice looking, well worth to spend some more time there. Thanks for the share.

Hi there,

I enjoyed reading your blog and I happen to agree with you completely. As this is not a new phenomenon, we decided to found a VA with less strict rules and an understanding for all the important things our pilots need to handle in real-life 10 years ago – and we are still going strong. Sometimes you have a lot of time to fly, sometimes you need (and should) prioritize other things in life, like taking care of the ones around you.

Anyway, the result of this philosophy is Colour Air Virtual Airline (www.colourair.de). You are more than welcome to join!
Even though the website is still only in German, the whole crew speaks English and is happy to assist :-)

Kind regards

Gregor
