Finnair is cancelling this evening’s flight, the AY089 from Helsinki to Bangkok, as well as the corresponding return flight. The flight was scheduled to depart from Helsinki at 20.15. According to the authorities in Thailand, Bangkok Airport will be closed at least until 18.00 tomorrow, local time.

The departure of this evening’s later flight, the AY095 at 23.55, will be postponed at least until Thursday. Finnair is prepared to restart flights to Bangkok immediately, when the airport reopens to traffic.

In total, the cancellation of the flights will affect around 500 passengers. Passengers have been informed of the flight arrangements. In Bangkok, passengers of the cancelled flight will be accommodated in hotels.

Most of the Helsinki-Bangkok flight passengers would have joined the flight from Finnair’s European destinations. Finnair has anticipated the development of the situation, so the passengers have not been transported to Helsinki to wait.

Finnair is monitoring the situation continuously. Passengers and staff have been evacuated from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumin Airport.

Updated additional information on the situation of Finnair’s scheduled flights and guidance to passengers on how to act can be found on the website
